I (Rajendra) was selected from the NGO’s (a non-profit organization that operates independently of any government, typically one whose purpose is to address a social or political issue) to participate in a week training conference organized by the US government Department of Justice for a week in Pokhara. There were 3 components selected and invited to the completion conference.
- Judges of Nepal from all levels the district judge, high court and the Supreme Court judges.
- Investigation officers from most districts
- Myself representing the NGOs.
The purpose of the conference was to do a thorough study on the current trafficking issues in Nepal, the change in its recent dynamics and dimensions, it’s moving trends etc.. and the existing law. I was asked to actively involve in making the trafficking situation aware to the participants and find the loop holes in the existing law pertaining to trafficking.
Finally, the drafted laws are given several significant changes in the existing laws which will be presented for amendments. My focus was for victim protection.
