When Deepa was around 6 years old her mother died during child birth and then her father died in a truck accident. She can remember garlands of flowers going to the burning ground and being told that her daddy would not come home any more.
It seemed that nobody was interested in her or willing to give her food so she started to walk, she says she walked past rivers and a small forest and was very hungry. Eventually a lady took pity on her and used her for a servant in her house for some time but later gave her to a lady running a hotel where she washed dishes and any menial job so that she could to get food to eat.
Now she looks to maybe 10 years of age, she only knows that her name is Deepa, the name given her by her mother but she knows nothing else. She does not know which village she came from or what her caste is or her family name which is very important in this country.
The Government Welfare Department came to know about her and knew that she was in grave danger to be sold so they brought her to 3 Angels.
Now she is smiling – how wonderful t to see the transformation that good food, love and security gives to a child.
Sadly, there are thousands like Deepa with hobody, and then all the children in the Badi prostitute communities that need to be rescued before sold.
